NOUN PHRASE
Noun phrase adalah rangkaian kata yang tidak berpola subject dan predikat dimana Noun sebagai head atau inti dari phrase tersebut. Menurut Jackson (1985), Noun phrase adalah pola phrase yang terdiri dari pre-modifier (penjelas), head (inti/yang dijelaskan), dan post-modifier (penjelas). Noun phrase bisa juga terdiri dari determiner, adjective, atau noun adjunct (noun yang menjelaskan noun yang lain), dan noun yang berfungsi sebagai head (inti)
e.g.,
a clever student
the young man
the good character
the table’s leg
many diligent workers
the good island
the pretty woman
some intelligent person.

Contoh;
- My smart friends studying in this class
Contoh diatas menunjukkan bahwa kata "friends" adalah inti dari phrase "my smart friends studying in this class" dan kata " my, smart, studying, in this class" adalah penjelas yang menjelaskan kata "friends" tersebut.
Berikut adalah apa yang disebut dengan Determiner, pre-modifier, dan post-modifier
Determiner adalah kata yang menjelaskan kata benda. Determiner selalu berposisi sebelum kata yang dijelaskan atau noun dan juga terkadang berposisi sebelum adjective atau kata sifat yang menggambarkan kata yang digambarkan oleh kata sifat tersebut atau bendanya.
Determiner terbagi menjadi beberapa fungsi yaitu: Referring and Quantifying.
- "Referring" menunjukkan kepada kita tentang "Siapa atau Apa" yang kata benda tersebut tunjuk atau bicarakan. Tipe-tipe determiner yang paling sering digunakan adalah articles, possessives and demonstratives:

“A” is followed by consonant sound and singular countable noun “An” is followed by vowel sound and singular countable noun | “the” is flexible article. It can be followed by consonant or vowel sound and singular or plural countable and uncountable noun | “This and that” are followed by singular countable noun or uncountable noun | “These and those” are followed by plural countable noun | |
Contoh;
This morning i saw a girl. the girl looked pale and she fell down. My friend directly came to her and shouted "Please, take me the medicine on that medicine storage box!", and then i took it and gave it to him.

Pre-modifier is a modifier that precedes the head of a noun phrase or word. Pre-modifiers are most often adjectives (descriptive adjective), participles, and nouns.
example;
This morning i saw a girl. the girl looked pale and she fell down. My friend directly came to her and shouted "Please, take me the medicine on that medicine storage box!", and then i took it and gave it to him.

The smart teacher teaches English well.
My friend come to the interesting party.
I go to the book store.
🌺Post-modifier
Post-modifiers adalah penjelas yang muncul setelah head atau yang dijelaskan. Pada umumnya post-modifier tersebut adalah adjective, participle, adjective clause, or prepositional phrase.
Contoh;
Mission impossible
The teacher teaching in the class
The boy that the girl love
the boy in that class
